Groundhog Day Syndrome

Have you ever seen the movie Groundhog Day? With the guy [Bill Murray] who relives the same day OVER AND OVER AND OVER again? Well, I can’t speak for Bobby with his busy work days, but the three of us have been suffering from a serious case of GDS, Groundhog Day Syndrome.

Lately,

it’s either too cold {though not nearly as cold as I see it’s been in most of your neck of the woods – here? not so much as a flake on the ground!}

or

too expensive to leave the house. {ahem…Target!}

We’ve been feeling awfully cooped up. I don’t know what your daily routine looks like but around here…I swear we’ve doing the same things at the same times EVERY. SINGLE. DAY! so….in an attempt to break the monotony of day-to-day child rearing, I threw the babies [and myself] a curve ball, also known as J-ello! Seems like harmless fun, right?

Sugar + cold, squishy things + baby = that smile!

And if you’re wondering what flavor…Mixed Fruit. [I would’ve wanted to know.]

“uuhhh, enough with the camera already. I’ve got work to do, MOM!”

013

Slow down, son! I promise it will not go away when you blink.

Just when I was all ‘la-de-dah, this is great!’ – Molly-girl gave me a slimy, sticky reality check by reminding me that giving J-ello to an almost 9-month old isn’t a great idea and that staying home, doing the same thing day in and day out, in a CLEAN house doesn’t seem so bad after all.

[Mom, I know you’re reading. Remember – your definition of clean is not MY definition of clean. *wink wink]

Are you looking at this picture screaming “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!” in slow motion too? Yea, me too. If only I could stop what happened next. If only…

Most of it ended up in her seat and IN her diaper, btw.

And just like that, Groundhog Day Syndrome suddenly has a perk!

I shouldn't complain. Really. It was a welcome change, mess and all. The babies really enjoyed their sweet snack and hey…at least we were able to change our routine a little bit - a bath after breakfast instead of after dinner. These days, I’ll take what we can get around here.

  9. OMG Lacey Bug,
    You have the life I have always dreamed of; I so do envoy you, to be home everyday with you little family. You can look at them and see all the love, care and attention you give them. You are an awesome Mom and it shows in every way. I am so very proud of the Mom you have become. I know I don’t get to talk or see you often but you are always in my heart. I am so glad I can read about you awesome life. Enjoy everyday you have with them because they grow up to be teenagers. LOL!!!!
